Have you "given up" anything lately? Did you ever consider that for every habit or behaviour that you change or stop, a new one immediately takes its place? That's why so many people find it almost impossible to once and for all quit smoking, or lose weight. Once a habit becomes ingrained in your body-mind memory, then any change in behaviour will only result in the repression of the memory, rather than the dissolution of it.
Awareness of a habit is all that is needed. To be aware that you smoke, or overeat, or worry, is the first step towards releasing the need for it. It is only because your habits become unconscious that they have permission to stay. AS soon as YOU become aware of what you are doing, then the light of your consciousness naturally dissolves any negative or limiting attachments.
This means slowing down in your life and becoming conscious of your thoughts, words, feelings and actions and how they are influencing the choices you are making in every moment. As soon as you do this, your life will immediately begin to transform for the better. Don't just take my word for it, try it for yourself and discover for yourself the power of your consciousness to change your life from within.
